Is NBA underrated to college?

May 11, 2007

As fans watch College basketball this time of year, anxiously awaiting March Madness, they have yet to notice there is another basketball league playing as well. NBA includes the best of the best and deserves respect, although nobody ever delivers it. Players were signed for a reason: they’re very good.

The program is run very well, although there have been a few incidences of brawls between teams. What sport doesn’t have a few?

NBA has produced many highlight faces. Michael Jordan, hands down, the best player of all time, has had so many clutch shots and phenomenal plays that one can’t help but stare in awe. From Jordan to Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlin, and Magic Johnson, how could one say that NBA isn’t entertainment?

The NBA provides all of the favorite college players. Take Deron Williams from the Utah Jazz for example. When he played for Illinois, he was the star, and was fun to watch in his last season, when Illinois went all the way to the Championship. So how can people say they love College Basketball more than NBA? The men are the same players that were watched all through college, only now they are succeeding, or even being humiliated, while making large amounts of money.

Many people argue that College Basketball games are more intense, and teams are more organized. Plays are run based on height and speed of the team. The NBA runs plays based on the same factors. In Davis’s opinion, games are just as exciting in the NBA because they can score a lot more points, and players are more explosive than in College.

So all negative thoughts on NBA, think again. This is a league which deserves respect.
