When Elliott Kohl (12) scored a perfect 36 on his ACT, an accomplishment many envious peers have only dreamt, he became only the second student in seven years to achieve a perfect score. The last student to receive a 36 was Adam Lamore (‘04 alum.)
 Elliott is also only one of six in Missouri and one of 177 in the nation to reach a perfect 36 on the June test. Elliott’s achievement has also been published in the Call and other community newspapers.
Elliotts’s 36 far surpass Linbergh‘s average ACT score of 23.2 and the national average of 21.2. 
After scoring a 35 on his first attempt some might wonder what would prompt Elliott to go through the stress of taking another ACT.
“You want the honest version [of why I took it again], my parents thought I should, and I thought sure why not, it is not that big of a time commitment,” he said.
Elliott, who achieved a perfect score on his second attempt, is involved in IB and PEGS programs. 
Unlike other LHS students, Elliott did not spend time preparing for the test, he said. This may explain why Elliott was somewhat surprised by his success on his first ACT.
“[When I got my first set of scores] I was like oh hey look at that, a 35,” said  Kohl.
While Elliott is obviously gifted academically he is not just about brains, and does not spend all of his time in the library; he plays trumpet in symphonic band, and is a member of National Honor Society. Elliott is also president of Thespian Society/Drama Club.
“Which plays have I been in? Let’s see, Once Upon a Mattress, Dark Deeds at Swan Place, Lucky Stiff, Dearly Departed, The Sound of Music, A Servant of Two Master, oh! and Château La Roach,” said Kohl.
When not busy with his IB diploma work or one of his extra-curricular activities, Elliott enjoys relaxing with activities that take a little less thought, such as reading and eating his favorite food- pepperoni pizza.
 With numerous college opportunities now, Elliott is having a hard time deciding which one to attend yet, but he plans to major in computer science.
