Exchange student takes Lindbergh by storm

A new school year is here, and there are many new faces. Plenty of new freshmen, 486 exactly, walk the halls and there are students who have transferred from other schools. Some, however, have transferred from across the world.
Carlos Trullenque (11), is a foreign exchange student from Valencia, Spain. He speaks many languages and knows English well enough to attend LHS for his entire junior year. He is enthusiastic for a once in a lifetime experience.
At the current age of fifteen years, Trullenque is rather young to be a junior. He has been to America once before, a couple years ago, but not for an extended period of time.
"I enjoyed my experience in America the last time I was here, and I was eager to come back. When I got the opportunity I decided I would go ahead and do it," said Trullenque.
He is staying with the family of Alex Heese (10), who volunteered to host Trullenque and to help him adjust.
"Carlos is going to be staying at my house for the entire school year. I thought it would be a good experience to host him. I’m looking forward to being friends with him throughout his time here at LHS and hopefully for a while afterwards," said Heese.
Trullenque is also an athlete. He plays tennis and soccer.
"Soccer and Tennis are my two sports. I am already on the JV soccer team, and making the tennis team is my next goal," said Trullenque.
For those who don’t know him yet, just go up and say hi, hola, or even bonjour. He’s trilingual in Spanish, English, and French. In Valencia he took seven years of English.
"I went to an all English school back in Valencia, and I am very fluent in both English and Spanish," said Trullenque.
Hopefully Trullenque will be welcomed and aided throughout the coming ‘07-’08 school year.
