TOP FIVE: Holiday Songs

May 10, 2007

When the weather gets chilly nothing is better than curling up on the couch next to fire, and listening to one’s favorite holiday songs. These songs will put anyone in the holiday spirit.

Christmas Time Is Here

This song is a cute and sweet. To anyone who has seen A Charlie Brown Christmas, it will instantly remind them of the Peanuts kids holding hands and singing around the christmas tree. Artist - Vince Guaraldi Trio Album - A Charlie Brown Christmas Sound track Best lyric- " Snowflakes in the air, Carols everywhere, Olden times and ancient rhyme."

The Chanukah Song

If any holiday song can make one laugh, this is it. It has hilarious rhymes, and parodies celebrities in the process. Artist - Adam Sandler Album - What the ‘Heck’ Happened to Me Best lyric- " Hanukkah is the festival of lights, Instead of one day of presents, we have eight crazy nights."

You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch

This song comes from the movie, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, about a mean spirited reject Who, who tries to ruin Christmas. This song may only appeal to those who have seen the film, but either way it makes the list for the top five holiday songs. Artist - Boris Karloff Album - How the Grinch Stole Christmas Sound track Best Lyric - "You’ve got garlic in your soul, Mr. Grinch! I wouldn’t touch you With a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole!"

Santa Baby

This song is sultry; with lyrics that infer the seduction of Santa Claus, and the buying of many expensive gifts. And surely imagining Marilyn Monroe as Mrs. Claus will make any gentleman have a happy holiday season. Artist - Marilyn Monroe Album - The Very Best of Marilyn Monroe Best lyric - "Come and trim my Christmas tree, With some decorations bought at Tiffany’s" I really do believe in you, Let’s see if you believe in me."

Blue Christmas (cover)

This song has sad themes, but is a great holiday love song. It boasts of lost love and refers to Christmas as ‘blue’ because a beloved person will not be there. Artist - Bright Eyes Album - A Christmas Album Best Lyric - "yeah, you’ll be doin’ alright, with your Christmas so white, but I’ll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas."
